What is
Bone Reconstruction ?

Bone reconstruction is needed for the correct insertion, positioning and healing of dental implants, by correcting defects in the volume, shape or consistency of the alveolar ridge. Deficient bone reserve (limited or extensive defects) can be corrected by bone augmentation so as to create optimal conditions for the application of dental implants.

For patients who do not have the correct amount of bone mass for implant placement, bone grafting may be necessary. This process augments the bone in which the implant will be placed, ensuring there is enough space. If there is little space for implant placement, sinus grafting may be necessary on the upper jaw area. Bone reconstruction can be done using biomaterials, autologous bone or a combination of these.
